Phnom Penh - November 30 to December 4, 2009

This was Operation Smile Cambodia's first local mission and was staffed almost entirely by Cambodian medical and non-medical volunteers along with two medical volunteers from Malaysia and one from the U.S.A.

The mission was considered very successful and demonstrated the capabilities of Operation Smile Cambodia's team of Cambodian medical volunteers.

Operation Smile Cambodia would like to thank the Rotary Club of Lu Chou, Taipei, Taiwan, the Rotary Club of Likas Bay, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia and the Rotary Club of Phnom Penh whose support made this mission possible.

Kampot - August 30 to September 4, 2009

Cambodia-Australia Friendship Mission

This was the first Operation Smile Cambodia mission in Kampot and was well received by the local community and authorities. With the assistance of an international team that included volunteers from Australia, Italy, United Kingdom, U.S.A., Philippines, and, of course Cambodia, Operation Smile Cambodia provided successful surgery to children and young adults with cleft lips, cleft palates, and other facial deformities from across Cambodia during this mission.

The international volunteer team on this mission also included medical professionals who traveled all the way from Peru and Kenya respectively to join the dedicated team providing free life altering medical care to needy Cambodians.

Finally, Operation Smile Cambodia would like to thank Ambassador Margaret Adamson of Australia for her support.

Kampong Cham - May 2 to May 7, 2009

Cambodia-Singapore Friendship Mission

This was the first Operation Smile Cambodia mission in Kampong Cham and was well received by the local community and authorities. With the sponsorship and assistance of a dedicated team from Operation Smile Singapore, the mission provided successful surgery to children and young adults with cleft lip, cleft palate, and other facial deformities from Kampong Cham and surrounding provinces.

Additionally Ms. Tina Tan and representatives of Mr. Bean both supported the mission financially and provided great assistance by participating as volunteers on the mission.

Finally, Operation Smile Cambodia would like to thank Ambassador Tan Yee Woan of Singapore for her support.

Phnom Penh - March 13 to March 20, 2009

Operation Smile returned again to the Khmer-Soviet Friendship Hospital in Phnom Penh for a very successful mission which was well received by public authorities. With the assistance of a dedicated team from Cambodia, U.S., Canada, England, Philippines, India and Vietnam, the mission provided successful surgery to children and young adults with cleft lip, cleft palate, and other facial deformities from Phnom Penh and provinces around Cambodia.

Sihanoukville - November 30 to December 4, 2008

Cambodian-Filipino Friendship Mission

This was the first Operation Smile Cambodia mission in Sihanoukville and was well received by the local community and authorities. With the assistance of a dedicated team from the Philippines, the mission provided successful surgery to children and young adults with cleft lip, cleft palate, and other facial deformities from Phnom Penh, Kompong Speu, Koh Kong, Kom Pot and Takeo provinces.

Representatives from Operation Smile Singapore also attended and assisted during the mission. The Operation Smile Singapore representatives also donated gifts to the patients.

Battambang - September 15 to September 20, 2008

Cambodian-European Friendship Mission

The second Operation Smile Cambodia mission to Battambang was considered very successful.

The mission provided successful surgery to children and young adults with cleft lip, cleft palate, and other facial deformities from Battambang, Banteaymeanchey, Pai Lin, Kompong Thom, Kompong Speu and Kompong Chhnang provinces.

The mission provided successful surgery to children and young adults with cleft lip, cleft palate, and other facial deformities from Phnom Penh, Kandal, Banteay Meachey, Battambang, Kratie, Kom Pong Saom, and other provinces.




Phnom Penh - November 8 to November 16, 2007

World Journey of Smiles

The World Journey of Smiles mission was held on the 8th to the 16th of November at the Khmer-Soviet Friendship Hospital. This was the first time Operation Smile Cambodia participated in a global mission where 25 countries in over 40 locations treated over 4000 children with cleft lips and/or cleft palates all in the same week.

The WJoS was in honour of Operation Smile's 25th Anniversary. The mission was a huge sucess with 127 patients treated and 300 patients were screened.

In attendance were medical and non-medical volunteers from countries including America, Canada, Cambodia, Australia, France, Holand and Thailand. The Cambodian and International teams worked incredibly hard thorugh out the mission.

The Cambodian team had their own surgery table for the first time which was great to show their skills and share experience and knowledge.

Phnom Penh - August 20 to August 24, 2007

Cambodian Filipino Friendship Mission

The Cambodian Filipino friendship mission was held on the 20th to the 25th of August at the Battambang Provincial Hospital. This was the first time Operation Smile Cambodia visited Battambang Province. The Battambang hospital and the people of Battambang province warmly welcomed the team.

In attendance were medical and non-medical volunteers from six different countries including America, Cambodia, India, Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines. The Cambodian and Filipino teams worked incredibly hard for 5 days performing 200 medical evaluations and 68 reconstructive surgeries. Overall this mission was a great achievement for both Operation Smile Cambodia and Operation Smile Philippines.

Outcome:
200 patients were medically evaluated
68 received free life changing surgery
The Cambodian team showed their skills, shared experiences and made new friends.

Phnom Penh - March 15 to March 23, 2007

International Medical Mission

The Operation Smile medical mission team volunteers included volunteers from Cambodia, Canada, the Philippines, South Africa, Thailand, the United States and Vietnam. During the mission, Cambodian volunteers completed a biomedical training program conducted by an Operation Smile biomedical technician from South Africa. The program trains the volunteers’ techniques in setting up, testing, and maintaining the state-of-the-art medical equipment that Operation Smile is supplying to each of its partner countries. The program is part of Operation Smile’s ongoing commitment to provide education and training to physicians and other healthcare professionals around the world to promote long-term self-sufficiency

Siem Reap - October 2 to October 7, 2006

Cambodian - Chinese Friendship Medical Mission

The international team members from America represented fourteen different states, while the international team was composed of volunteers who hailed from eight different nations including the United States, Venezuela, Canada, Cambodia, Vietnam, China, Singapore, Brazil and the Philippines.

Phnom Penh - March 10 to March 19, 2005

International Mission

The Operation Smile mission team included volunteers from Cambodia, Egypt, India, Japan and the United States. Plastic surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, a pediatrician, a dentist, speech pathologist and child life therapist worked tirelessly together to provide 347 medical evaluations and were able to provide surgery for 127 children and young adults afflicted with facial deformities. Princess Rattana Devi visited the Khmer-Friendship Hospital during surgery week.
